When built, the two-story structure at 116 West Jefferson was shorter than those on either side.
Perhaps to help passersby take notice, the building’s store front held a large sign in 1906 that read,
“Promoter, Cigar Factory, No. 117, 6 th District of Missouri, A.W. Campbell, Proprietor.” Now the lot to
the west is a park. This building has been home to a variety of businesses, including a barber shop and a
law firm for more than three decades. Clinton Main Street Inc. is the building’s current owner, and its
offices can be accessed through the park.
