Color Our World Summer Reading Program Coming to an End
The 2025 Color Our World Summer Reading Program is coming to an end at the Henry County Library. All are invited to attend the End of Summer Wrap-Up this Saturday, August 2nd, from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. The event will feature a performance by Mad Science of Greater Kansas City (https://kansascity.madscience.org) and be followed by the grand prize drawings. The Wrap-Up party will be held in the Friends of the Henry County Library Community Room.
As a reminder, all Summer Reading Program minutes must be submitted to the Henry County Library or Lenora Blackmore Branch by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1st, to be eligible for the grand prize drawings. Attendance is not mandatory to receive prizes (with the exception of the drawing for the $100 Wal-Mart gift card).
The goal of the Summer Reading Program is to encourage children and teens to read over the summer months to avoid losing reading skills and to make it fun so that they develop lifelong reading habits. A total of 325 readers registered for this year’s program. To date, a total of 108,732 minutes have been logged throughout the summer.
Once again, the library would like to thank the local and outreach sponsors for their generous support as well as for the funding provided by the Summer Library Program 2025 grant awarded by the Missouri Secretary of State. This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
