Adventure Begins at Your Library this Saturday, June 1st, from 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Henry County Library’s Summer Reading Program Kickoff. The event will feature the program The Magical Library Adventure by Marty Hahne, “The Reading Magician” (www.martythemagician.com, 417-581-1664), at 10:00 a.m. Following the performance, listeners and readers ages 0 – 17 may be registered for the summer reading program which runs from June 1st to August 3rd. Each registrant will receive a book and goody bag. Popcorn and snow cones will be served. In conjunction with this year’s Collaborative Summer Library Program theme, the library will be exploring many countries at Storytime and Adventure Club events throughout the summer. Storytime is held each Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Clinton and 2:00 p.m. at the Lenora Blackmore Branch in Windsor. A Special Storytime with Barbara Gay will be held on Wednesday, July 17th from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in Clinton. Adventure Club for grades 4 – 12 will be held on June 13th and 27th, and July 11th and 25th at 10:00 a.m. in Clinton and 2:00 p.m. in Windsor. A quest to claim the heart gem and free your team from the Egyptian Escape Room will be held from June 12th – June 15th from 10 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the Friends of the Henry County Library Community Room. Pre-registration is required for the escape room at 660-885-2612. There are even more adventures to explore over the summer! The library will be hosting Jay & Leslie’s Library Escapades (www.leslieandjay.com, 913-660-3162) in Clinton on June 22nd from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. On July 20th from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Jimmy Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife will be presenting their Live Animal Program (www.wondersofwildlife.org, 800-465-4812) in Clinton. Funding for the Wonders of Wildlife program was provided by a Summer Library Program 2024 grant received through the Missouri Secretary of State. “This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State”. The end of summer celebration with Foam My Party (www.foammyparty.com, 913-214-6775) will take place on August 3rd from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Henry County Library parking lot and will include the grand prize giveaways.

Missouri Veterans Home – Warrensburg·Our Veterans Assistance League will be hosting its 19th annual Scramble for Freedom on June 2 at Meadow Lake Golf Course in Clinton.  This is a four-man scramble and the cost is $300 a team. Proceeds will go towards programs that enhance the lives of our veterans. This will be our first time down in Clinton, so please play for our veterans.  We will bring some of them down to assist with opening ceremonies and to enjoy some of the tournament.  Online registration is available at 2024valscramble.eventbrite.com. Cruise to Clinton Cruise Night is a cruise-in held on the Clinton, MO Square, from 4pm till 7pm on the 2nd Saturday of the month from May thru October.  Plenty of shade and parking available, with food vendors on site and a DJ playing music and giveaways.
