WEEKLY UPDATE FROM THE GREATER CLINTON-AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/BY DAVID LEE-DIRECTOR: 10/6/23

Bretta,  Thanks for 34 great years so far (10/6/89).

The Clinton Chamber, along with some of our Ambassadors Group, celebrated on Monday with Radford Media Group as they have now owned KDKD and KXEA radio stations for five years. Here’s to 5, 10, 15+ years of continued success!

YOUR Chamber of Commerce and some folks from our Ambassadors Group headed out to Osage Valley Electric Cooperative to help them celebrate their 85th year in business on Monday aft.  They had about four or five linemen at the office for the photo, however about an hour before we arrived, some lines were accidentally pulled down and those workers had to rush to the scene. I’m sure all their customers in that area appreciated their work on a hot afternoon.

Some of our Ambassadors Group of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, plus some high school representatives, helped UMB Bank celebrate their 35th Anniversary on Wed. Of course, you would expect the inside of a bank to look great, and this one does, but the outside of this bank is always so beautiful. Here’s to 35+ more years!  See the photos on the Chamber’s Facebook page.

Enchanting Winds Metaphysical Shoppe is now open! They are located behind Subway Restaurant in Clinton, next to Sweet Vanity Beauty Salon. Merchandise is still arriving daily…I wish I could describe the beautiful smell inside this store…and keep watching our Facebook page for info on their Grand Opening coming up in a week.

The Chamber once again is partnering with Clinton Bright Futures. This year, we are helping out in Mrs. Stormie Corwin’s second grade classroom.  If you check out the Chamber’s Facebook page, you’ll see we helped the students make scarecrows. The kids took direction real well and made some very good and unique scarecrows. As always, a big shout out to all educators!!

The City of Clinton is about to have some visitors. This Sat., Sunday and Monday (10/7, 8 and 9), about 160 bicyclists plus a support team will be in Clinton preparing for and then launching the 2023 Fall Big BAM on the Katy.   Most will camp out near the Henry Co. Fairgrounds and you are more than welcome to stop by and visit with some of the riders Sunday afternoon and evening. In the past, riders have come here from all over the United States to take part in this week-long ride on the Katy Trail. Probably about 30 to 40 will be using our hotels and most will be spending money in our community in the short time they are here.   The organizers of the Big BAM on the Katy will also be spending money in Clinton with some of our retailers and food providers. A big thanks to the folks with the Community Center/Benson Center and the Henry Co. Fairgrounds for their help in these events each year.   The band “Crossfire South” will be performing in the Benson Center on Sunday from about 6:15 to 8:30pm and the public is invited.   The riders will take off Monday morning by 8am heading east and when they arrive back in Clinton on the 14th via bus, many will stay in Clinton again before heading home on the 15th. 6 DAYS OF RIDING!
