Book Reading and Signing for Local Author Jeremy White
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 4, 2023
The Henry County Library in Clinton is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a book reading and signing session for local author Jeremy White on Saturday, May 6th, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Community Room. Jeremy will be reading from his book My National Park Diet.
About Jeremy White: Jeremy White was born and raised in Clinton, Missouri, and is a graduate of the Clinton High School Class of 1993. He continued his education in Rolla, Missouri, where he obtained a degree in chemical engineering in May 1997. Jeremy resided in the Chicago suburbs for 19 years while working in the field of technical development of plastic packaging materials for PepsiCo products, mostly Gatorade. His name can be found on the patent for a squeezable beverage bottle and many others. He competed in Quiz Bowl for over 20 years and was on a national championship team four times.
Jeremy’s memoir details his previous goal of losing weight by visiting national parks for fun while between engineering jobs in 2016. He was unable to secure a publisher for the book at that time. After receiving a traumatic brain injury caused by a severe accident in 2018, he returned to his hometown of Clinton and decided to pursue the self-publishing of his work with an added epilogue detailing his accident and recovery.
About My National Park Diet: Desperate to lose a significant amount of weight, Jeremy White set a goal early in 2011 of visiting and hiking in all the 48 national parks in the contiguous United States before the end of 2014 and to lose 48 pounds by doing so.
Ads show other ways to lose weight, but Jeremy wanted to learn more about nature and set a weight loss goal that was motivating. Other ways to lose weight may be better or worse, but he soon realized that few of those have any risk of bear attacks, getting stuck in mud, or falling off a mountain.
Did Jeremy lose any weight by doing this? Did a disaster in a park end his goal instead? This is the book you can read to find out.
Please join the library in welcoming Jeremy as he shares his remarkable story. Copies of his memoir will be available for purchasing and autographing for $25 (cash/check only) at this event. For further details contact the Henry County Library in Clinton at (660)885-2612.
