LEAP, Escape Room and Pumpkin Crafting at the Henry Co. Library in Oct.

LEAP (LEARN, EXPLORE, ACHIEVE, PLAY) AT THE HENRY COUNTY LIBRARY

The Henry County Library LEAP clubs have started for grades one through five.

Hannah W. puts Dr. Seuss’s book to the test, “Ten Apples up on Top!”

The Clinton Branch, Keen Kiddos LEAPers Club held its first club meeting on Thursday, September 8th, 2022. The kiddos learned about an ant’s life cycle and built an ant farm with mason jars! Apple smiles and apple juice snacks were had after trying to balance ten apples on their heads! A message was sent to Dr. Suess that we cannot get ten apples on top!

The next club meeting will take place on October 13th, The Life of a Pumpkin. The LEAPers will continue to meet on the second Thursday of each month from 4:00 -5:00 PM.

The Windsor Branch, Windsor LEAPers, will take place on the second Monday of each month at 1:00 PM through 2:00 PM. The first club meeting is Monday, October 10th, 2022.

LEAP is designed to teach literacy, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), and School Readiness for children. During these meetings the Henry County Library will create an informal learning environment, complete recreational activities to build life skills, and explore career options! This will be a safe space for youth to explore things that interest them!

The Henry County Library does ask that if a child is under the age of 12 that an adult stay in the building! Sign up is required to ensure all needs are met for the activities provided.  To sign up you may call or visit one of the Henry County Library branches.

HENRY COUNTY LIBRARY SETS THE SCENE FOR A GRAVEYARD ESCAPE ROOM

CLINTON- Thursday, October 20, 2022, through Saturday October 22, 2022, the Henry County Library Main Branch invites children grades 6-12 to go on an exciting adventure and flee the graveyard!

The library’s escape room is not a room that you escape from. It’s a room that has hidden puzzles and other obstacles that the children solve to reach their end goal. In this case it is finding a gem.

You received a mysterious letter inviting you to a graveyard to find a priceless gem.

You only have an hour… Will you get out in time?

PUMPKIN CRAFTING AT HENRY COUNTY LIBRARY

CLINTON AND WINDSOR- The Henry County Library will be hosting a pumpkin crafting contest from 9:00 AM on October 17, 2022, through 4 October 29, 2022, at 4:45 PM. Both libraries are currently accepting entries into its Pumpkin Crafting Contest. Children from grades Pre-k – 12 may use their creativity and design their own pumpkin or decorate as a character from their favorite book!

The library asks that participants avoid carving the pumpkins as carved pumpkins will rot and contest entries will be displayed inside the libraries. Participants are encouraged to use paint, glue, or any other materials that can be attached to the exterior of the pumpkin instead of carving.

The deadline for registration is October 14th at both library locations. This will ensure pumpkins will be available for those who register. If participants do not preregister they may still participate by purchasing and crafting their own pumpkin and turning the creation in by the entry deadline of October 29th at 4:45 PM.

Winners will be announced via Facebook Live on Halloween at 4:00 PM and will be chosen from four categories: Kid Grades (Pre-k -2), Middle Grades (3 -7), and Teen Grades (8-12).

Visit the library’s website at www.henrycolib.org and follow us @henrycolib on Facebook. The main library is located at 123 E. Green St., Clinton. The Lenora Blackmore Branch is located at 105 W. Benton St., Windsor.
