For years, members of Clinton Lodge No. 169 of the International Order of the Odd Fellows met on
Monday nights in the building at 140 West Jefferson. A cornerstone with the date 1870 can be seen at
the top right. One of the older structures on the square, the building has had both its side walls rebuilt.
Artifacts from the meeting space can still be found on the second story.
A number of businesses have called this site home. Jackson Foster Land Co. sold real estate and
provided loans and insurance for several years at the start in the early 1900s. Kyle Realty also operated
at this location. Later, two restaurants, Tracy’s Café and Deluxe Café, were popular with local diners.
Since then, the building has been home to retail businesses. The current business opened six years ago
and recently expanded to 138 West Jefferson, which features original tin ceilings and was home to a
succession of barber shops from its construction in the late 1800s.
