WEEKLY UPDATE FROM THE GREATER CLINTON-AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/BY DAVID LEE-DIRECTOR:  7.24.26

The last time you heard from me in this weekly update was on May 8th.  As The Grateful Dead one sang, ‘what a long, strange trip it’s been’.

I told you I would try to get back to work as soon as I (David Lee) could, but I had lung cancer (never smoked), and my surgery was coming up May 13th.  I thought…in the hospital from 3 to 7 days plus home recovery from 3 to 6 weeks, depending on what they found during surgery and what they had to do.

Well…  They removed three known areas of cancer and found one more…then fluid started to build up in my lung, so another surgery was performed…then my sodium level went very low and I crashed.  The hospital called in their Chaplin to be with my family that were there, but I made it back.  There are 10 days in the hospital that I don’t remember a thing.

After being released on May 29th, I made it back to work on June 13th and have gradually worked my way back to full time.  I am still weak and slow, but I feel good and ready to work for our businesses and others in the Clinton area.  Thanks for all the cards, emails, phone calls, stopping by the office and more.  That means the world to me.

This week, we re-started our “Featured” segments on the Chamber’s Facebook page. We are now taking text and images from our member’s websites, Facebook pages, Google searches, etc. and combining them into posts on our Facebook page. “Featured with the GCACC”. It gives the viewer a “one-stop shopping experience” for each of our Chamber members. We have a lot of Chamber members so getting every business on our page will take quite a while, but we think it’s well worth it! It’s just another service from YOUR Chamber of Commerce. This week, we “Featured” Guardians of the Children…Legacy Memorials…H&E West MO Veterinary Clinic…Legacy Bank…Hampton Inn…Kustom Kat Contractors…Hankins Grain…Klassen Construction Co…Harper Pump Co…King’s Appliance Center.
