Chamber Seeking New Economic Development Director
The Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking applicants for the position of Economic Development Director. This is an executive professional position that interfaces closely with many community leaders and organizations.

The existing economic development director plans on retiring around 10/2/2025 after serving Clinton for over 6 years. He will stay available as need be to assist with the transition.
JOB DESCRIPTION
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Clinton, Missouri
POSITION OVERVIEW
• Clinton Economic Development Director is an executive level position under the Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce
• Position is funded by a Performance Contract between the Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Clinton
• Position reports monthly to both City of Clinton City Council and Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
• Coordinates all economic development activities of the City.
• Serves as a development advisor with Clinton Main Street and Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or higher accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in economic development, economics, public administration, marketing or a related field.
• Three to five years related experience and/or training experience in economic development, marketing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS
• Successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must have attained or show they are working towards either the MO-CED designation or CEcD designation or both.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides business expansion and retention support for industries currently in Clinton. Works with company representatives to determine company specific needs.
• Cooperates and negotiates with developers as needed.
• Provides oversite to continued development of Gerhart Industrial Park, a 126 acre Missouri Certified Industrial Site.
• Oversees Annual Existing Industry Survey and updates community website with pertinent data.
ATTRACTS NEW INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS TO CLINTON
• Responds to all Requests for Information (RFI) regarding new project leads for City of Clinton, where pertinent.
• Provides various types of information about the City to interested firms.
• Facilitates relocation process for new industry and business
• Develops marketing plans for industrial improvement, including land and buildings.
OVERSEES THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
POLICIES AND PROCEEDURES
• Reviews and updates the City’s policies related to economic development and assures compliance with economic development regulations.
• Oversees the implementation and updates to City Economic Development Plan
HANDLES ALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT RELATED PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Creates and oversees all community and economic development information for website to include existing available buildings and sites for development, transportation improvements for the region,
demographic, workforce and education reports and links information with outside websites such as
Linked In, Location One, Missouri Department of Economic Development, Central Missouri Economic Development Association, and the Missouri Partnership.
• Acts as spokesperson for the City on economic development issues when requested.
• Provides information to the media as necessary including Press Releases
SUPERVISORY ROLE
• The Economic Development Director position is a non-supervisory role and has no direct reports
TRAVEL
• Limited travel and only 5% of time and most travel within region
