Clinton Main Street strives to preserve the history and integrity of the downtown and Historic Clinton Square community, while promoting economic growth and development. Our Executive Director, Board Of Directors, and Committees work tirelessly throughout the year to make the downtown district a viable contributor to the Clinton area economy and a visible symbol of community pride. Working with local municipalities, community partners and our downtown businesses to provide tangible benefits, Clinton Main Street is making the downtown a good place to live, work, visit, shop, and invest.
Main Street Clinton Organizational History
Founded in 1989, Clinton Main Street is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Downtown and Clinton Square Historic District. We have one full time Executive Director and a volunteer force of 114 individuals.
The purpose of Clinton Main Street is to preserve and promote downtown Clinton as a Community hub while focusing efforts to ensure downtown remains a major contributor to our economy by utilizing the Main Street Four Points Approach. Clinton Main Street is an affiliated National Main Street program and Missouri Main Street Program.

Vision Statement:
The Clinton Square Historic District will be a regional governmental, professional, and retail center and will be a thriving and diverse shopping, dining, and cultural destination. Clinton Main Street will partner with other community development groups and local government to strengthen downtown assets. The downtown district will be recognized as a viable contributor to the Clinton area economy and a visible symbol of community pride. Downtown will be a good place to live, work, visit, shop, and invest.
As a Missouri Main Street Associate program, Clinton Main Street is a recognized, leading program among the state network of more than 45 districts and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development.
As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Clinton Main Street is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.
Results
Clinton Main Street has very strong tangible results to show our vision is working.
For the period 2006-2020, we can report the following:
- Approximately 12,000 volunteer hours
- 14 Net new businesses
- 5 Net new jobs
- Total Capital Investment of $14,199,061
- Current vacancy rate at less than 5%
Staff, Board of Directors, and Committees
Tina Williams serves as Executive Director of Clinton Main Street and is been in this position for 1 year. Previously, Tina was Museum Director for the Henry County Museum. Tina brings a love of history and a problem solving attitude combined with boundless energy that is perfect for her role with Clinton Main Street.
Tina has local roots having grown up in the Lakeland School district. She went on to receive her undergraduate from Washburn University and her masters from Johns Hopkins University. Tina has now returned to Clinton to make her home with her husband, Josh, and daughter, Victoria. Tina is excited to work with the Main Street program to improve and revitalize the Historic Downtown Clinton Square while keeping an eye to historic preservation and ensuring opportunities for our community.
